Woman of the Week – Kristen Lebsock

Kristen LebsockHere at Executive Elements, we like to feature fantastic women we think you should know. Some of these women are clients, some are friends, some are women we’ve only just met. Woman of the Week – Wendy Larzelere

Wendy LHere at Executive Elements, we like to feature fantastic women we think you should know. Some of these women are clients, some are friends, some are women we’ve only just met. But they all have this in common: they are dynamic, interesting women who have agreed to share with us their insights and secrets to success.

My Name:
Wendy Larzelere

My Current Job/Company:
Leadership Development Consultant/Claro Consulting

My Birthday:
03.25.67

My Work:
I help companies align their talent strategies with their operational strategies and goals in order to stay ahead of fast-paced and ever-changing business dynamics. I do that by working with leaders and leadership teams to identify and unravel trouble spots and cultivate and elevate existing and future leadership talent.

My Passion:
My family, my friends, natural beauty (mountains, oceans, big skies), books and my puppy.

My Family:
My wonderful parents, Charles and Carlene, my siblings, and my favorite people in the world, my nieces and nephews: Sterling (18 and a first year college student!), Logen (16), Alexander (14), Caroline (11), and Francesca (8).

My Hero or Heroes:
I have some friends who are pretty heroic, but there is one person who has been my hero my whole life, my Grandmother, Dorothy LeMaitre. She worked hard, she travelled far and she loved fiercely.

My Escape:
I am an explorer, so anywhere away from home where I can get out and walk and see new things and experience new experiences is an escape for me. Bonus points if it is somewhere beautiful, like the coast of northern California.

My Pet Peeve:
People who drive slow in the left lane on the highway and people who are judgmental.

My Indulgence:
Jeni’s ice cream. Brambleberry Crunch (which I sorely missed this summer!).

My Roots:
I had a good Midwestern upbringing, where we played outside all day, had meals together as a family every night and loaded into the station wagon every summer for some crazy adventure – mom, dad, five kids, and grandma!

My Future:
Open-ended and adventure-filled, I hope. I think of it as the book that has yet to be written, and I am excited to see how it plays out.

My Favorite Quote:
“If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.” I believe this to my core, so I always try to stay in close touch with who I am and what I stand for.

My Accessory:
My glasses, and my favorite aquamarine stud earrings and ring (birthstone).

My advice to Young Women:
Don’t believe you have to have it all figured out all of the time. It is okay to let things play out, to change or reverse course, and to keep options open, so when interesting and right opportunities knock, you can take advantage of them.

How I Balance it All:
I give myself the luxury of time to think and to plan, and I have learned the art of saying “no” to things when I start to feel over-extended.

Women of the Week – Keeping it all in Balance

Starburst

Busy lives are filled with many commitments that pull us in many directions. We love the advice our Women of the Week offer on how they have sought to find balance in their own lives.

Molly Iams
By letting go of the small things at work and at home.

Lisa Carlson
I would like to say prioritization, organization, and planning, however, that would not be truthful. I haven’t figured out how to balance it all yet. I am not certain I ever will or if balance is even realistic in my world. I “balance” because I have a supportive husband and a wonderful family who is always there to help me. I am a work in progress when it comes to figuring out how to make everything fall in to place. Everyday I get a little better at it.

Rebecca Wiggins
With a lot of help! I am so fortunate to have a supportive partner, amazing caregiver for our kids and wonderful family and friends. The myth is not that we can’t have it all and love our messy lives—it is that we can do it all on our own.

Katie Birch
It’s important to me to not to over commit and to find time for me every day, whether that’s working out, cooking, reading – just doing something that I enjoy doing, by myself – it helps keep me sane!

Jocelyn Sperko
Balancing everything implies that one part of my life must give for another to take. So I think of it more as “finding balance” or making sure all parts of my life work together in harmony. I make time for the things that are important to me and I have learned to say “no” to the things that aren’t. I don’t hesitate to put a workout or lunch with a friend on the office calendar – it means I’m not available for an hour or two – but the needed escape ensures I can give 110% when I am back at the office.

Women of the Week – Inspiring Young Women!

Our Women of the Week have had quite a few amazing experiences! We love that they have used these experiences to enrich their lives and the lives of others, by sharing their advice to young women.

Roxanne LaMuth
Believe in yourself and be the best you can be, recognizing that mistakes enrich our souls and help define who we are and what we stand for.

Rebecca Wiggins
Know what you stand for and believe in. Surround yourself with authentic, positive, encouraging people. Embrace the windy road–-sometimes things don’t work out how we planned, but we end up exactly where we need to be!

Christie Hall
Take the time to understand your own values. Once you have identified your values, leverage them along with your strengths in an effort to leave this world a better place.

Vicki Bowen Hewes
Think about your goals and trust your gut. Stay focused on what you want to achieve – know that it usually takes longer than expected. Have a dream with a deadline. If something is consistently not making progress, it’s time to reevaluate. Have a ‘Plan B’ (then C, then D…).

Cathy Lanning
Find a small set of mentors who can be trusted advisors. Source them from within your company, but also from across your network so you can have a broad perspective. But you can’t stop by establishing mentors – it’s important to have advocates too. Every day be smart and be kind to build an advocacy base of people who see your contributions directly. These tend to be the leaders who may take a risk to grow you and will invest in you because they know your commitment, ambition, and capabilities.

Women of the Week – Our inspiration!

StarburstOur Women of the Week inspire us everyday. We love reflecting on the quotes that inspire them!

Amanda Mason
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs

“There is a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women. ~Madeleine Albright

Angela Coppler
“Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful.” – Unknown
