Monday Morning Inspiration!

Our Monday Morning Inspiration…

“If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place.” – Nora Roberts

Successful Leaders Learn From Setbacks

Ever had one of those days when you feel like everything you do is a failure? A meeting didn’t go well. A project you championed didn’t get the traction you’d hoped. Your kid is  upset because you missed his soccer game.  You had to skip your work out. You stayed late but didn’t seem to get anything done.

It’s frustrating. But, good leaders know that there’s only one way to get through challenging times…..and that is full steam ahead.

Sure, go ahead and wallow for a few minutes. Say a few choice words (to the wall, of course!) Then, get over it. Progress.

Successful leaders learn and progress

Shelley Bird on Work Life Balance

Can women really have it all?

Shelley Bird, executive VP at Cardinal Health, a colleague, friend, community leader and mom, shares her thoughts on this topic with the Huffington Post in her article, “Balance Schmalance.”

Her take: “we govern our own decisions and define for ourselves what success, including career success, looks like.”

In other words, you can have it all, but your “all” may be vastly different than what someone else considers “all.” And that’s perfectly okay.

Because, if we allow society to define success for today’s woman, we’re in essence limiting that success.

Well, Shelley, we couldn’t agree more and appreciate you telling your story along the way. Thanks for being “real.”

Quote on Assertiveness

“The basic difference between being assertive and being aggressive is how our words and behavior affect the rights and well being of others.”
-Sharon Anthony Bower

Perspective on: Assertiveness

Unfortunately, most women confuse “being assertive” with “being aggressive.”  Assertive women express themselves without becoming defensive. Assertive women share their opinions without belittling those of others. Assertive women command respect.

Aggressive women, on the other hand, can be seen as defensive, bullying and disrespectful of others.

I think the difference is clear. Do you?

On Creativity

“There is no doubt that creativity is the most important human resource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns.” — Edward de Bono

Perspective on: Creativity

Creativity and problem solving skills are two of the biggest competitive advantages any associate can bring to an organization. If you want to add value to your organization, think about how to solve problems before situations even become problems!

Perspective on…Executive Presence

Those women who “command” executive presence don’t actually “command” or “demand” anything in life.  They walk, talk, and work gracefully, but with authority. That’s what makes them special!

On Time Management

You will never “find” time for anything. If you want time, you must make it.
-Charles Bruxton
