Woman of the Week – Renee Hodder

Here at Executive Elements, we like to feature fantastic women we think you should know. Some of these women are clients, some are friends, some are women we’ve only just met. But they all have this in common: they are dynamic, interesting women who have agreed to share with us their insights and secrets to success.

My Name:
Renée Hodder

My Current Job/Company:
Director, Information Risk Management for Nationwide Insurance

My Work:
As a cyber security professional, I collaborate with business leaders in the evaluation of security products and services to provide reasonable assurance that 1) IT is aligned with the achievement of business objectives, 2) undesired events are prevented or detected and corrected, and 3) risks are managed appropriately.

My Passion:
My family, friends and long bike rides in the park.

My Family:
Married my high school sweet heart 30+ years ago (Ed). I am also the proud parent of three adult children and one son-in-law, Elizabeth, Katherine (Adam), and Jonny.

My Hero or Heroes:
Hilary Clinton and Michelle Obama – both are smart, determined and eloquent woman with vision.

My Escape:
“Forest bathing” — basically just being in the presence of trees. A hike in the woods always lifts my spirits.

My Pet Peeves:
The assumption that there is only one way to solve a problem.

My Indulgence:
Crime dramas.

My Roots:
Dysfunctional but loving.

My Future:
Exciting – ever changing.

My Favorite Quote:
“Failure is not measured by someone else’s success.”
~ Renee Hodder

My Accessory:
A hug and a smile.

My advice to Young Women:
Persistence. Set a goal and keep at it.

How I Balance it All:
Be the best version of myself every day.
