Woman of the Week – Carolyn Barger
Here at Executive Elements, we like to feature fantastic women we think you should know. Some of these women are clients, some are friends, some are women we’ve only just met. But they all have this in common: they are dynamic, interesting women who have agreed to share with us their insights and secrets to success.
My Name:
Carolyn Barger
My Current Job/Company:
Executive Assistant Director at Honor Flight Columbus
My Work:
I help direct Honor Flight Columbus on an operations level – we are a non-profit organization which flies WWII, Korean and Vietnam Veterans to Washington D.C. to see the memorials dedicated in their honor at no cost to them.
My Passion:
Family, Travel, Cooking, History and Veterans.
My Family:
My husband, Mike, and my daughters, Sophia (11) and Layla (8).
My Hero or Heroes:
I have learned so much from my Mother and my late Mother-in-Law but right now my youngest daughter (who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes about a year ago) is pretty heroic in my eyes. She’s a little fighter and it inspires me daily!
My Escape:
Crescent Beach in Siesta Key, Florida.
My Pet Peeve:
Being late or other people being late.
My Indulgence:
Spicy foods (Red Hot on anything) & wine.
My Roots:
I was raised to be pretty grounded – traditional home life, loving family and friends, and a supportive community. Grateful!
My Future:
I like change. I like challenging and pushing myself. I say yes to a lot of new opportunities so who knows what the future holds. I like not knowing!
My Favorite Quote:
“It’s nice to be nice.” Simple but so true.
My Accessory:
Dangly earrings.
My advice to Young Women:
It’s a lot more fulfilling to do what feels good in your heart rather than what looks good on paper.
How I Balance it All:
A lot of lists – I get a lot of joy out of being productive and efficient.
