Woman of the Week ~ Amy Taylor
Here at Executive Elements, we like to feature fantastic women we think you should know. Some of these women are clients, some are friends, some are women we’ve only just met. But they all have this in common: they are dynamic, interesting women who have agreed to share with us their insights and secrets to success.
My Name: Amy Taylor
My Current Job/Company: Chief Operating Officer with the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC)
My Work: I believe that a change in place can lead to a change in perspective. I’m fortunate that I get to live that mantra through my work on projects like The National Veterans Memorial and Museum, Scioto Mile, Columbus Commons and Scioto Greenways that have become part of people’s experiences and memories of their city
My Passion: My wonderful family and friends, my inspiring book club and my amazingly talented colleagues at CDDC.
My Family: My husband, Jonathan, who can always make me laugh, and my daughter Audrey (12) who was willing to read The Odyssey as long as I promised to learn a few TikTok dances.
My Hero or Heroes: My parents, Barbara and Don Edwards, and my grandmother, Marion Febo, who taught me that service is the best expression of love.
My Escape: My daily walk through my neighborhood and Glacier Ridge Metro Park. It provides the opportunity to clear my head, put things into perspective and dream a little.
Pet Peeve: People who are late.
My Indulgence: My friend Bridget’s chocolate chip cookies. They’re worth every calorie.
My Roots: Small town, southern Ohio girl with big city dreams. My first class at Ohio State was bigger than my entire hometown. Today, I now teach at Ohio State so my life as a Buckeye has come full circle.
My Future: I’m an optimist at heart and believe in the good in people. I am hopeful that the future will provide more opportunities to learn and grow.
My Favorite Quote: “Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” Albus Dumbledore (J.K. Rowling)
My Accessory: Lipstick, earrings and currently, a face mask.
My Advice to Young Women: Surprisingly, I think The Rock said best “Be hungry. Be humble. And always be hardest worker in the room.
How I Balance it All: Sometimes, balancing feels like a myth but I try my best by making lists, prioritizing what’s important, spending my time on the things I value and (the hardest one for me) accepting help.
