Woman of the Week – Ginger Spray

Here at Executive Elements, we like to feature fantastic women we think you should know. Some of these women are clients, some are friends, some are women we’ve only just met. But they all have this in common: they are dynamic, interesting women who have agreed to share with us their insights and secrets to success.

My Name:
Ginger Spray

My Current Job/Company:
IT (Telecom) Manager/AEP

My Work:
I manage a team of engineers who are responsible for the design and administration of the corporate voice, video and wireless solutions.

My Passion:
My integrity and being a respectful human being.

My Family:
Too large to name but I make a point to reach out to someone daily. This includes immediate and extended family, old coworkers, old and new friends and their families. I figure at the end of the day, I might make someone smile with a random reach out to let them know I was thinking about them. I define family as all the people who mean something special to me and there are lots!

My Hero or Heroes:
I met a man on my journey and his name is Jack (John) Lynch. He’s an honest, kind and giving man in his upper 80’s now. During his career, he was the first to hire women for sales positions and the first to promote them to management as reward for their hard work. He was also the first to ban smoking in their board rooms. I remember his stories so vividly on how this was received back in the 60’s and I’ll never forget it. He was ahead of his time. His stories are too great and unbelievable that I’m recently inspired to write a book about him.

My Escape:
I love the mountains with all their scenery, trails and lakes. When I can’t travel that far, I escape to my piece of land and my private fishing hole for my outdoor fix.

My Pet Peeve:
Rudeness. Speeders in my neighborhood.

My Indulgence:
Ice Cream

My Roots:
Simple. Small town. Hardworking. Helpful.

My Future:
Exciting. I’ve planned well and continue to surround myself with genuinely good people both at work and at home.

My Favorite Quote:
You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar

My Accessory:
My watch. It has a tiny heart cutout which shows the inside components working hard to keep time. It symbolizes a beating heart and reminds me to be thankful for another day.

My Advice to Young Women:
Stay genuine yet self-aware and flexible. You can learn a lot from people through observation. Trust your gut. Ask questions. Be thankful.

How I Balance it All:
If you are surrounded by good people and treat people with respect always, then in my experience they are more willing to lend a hand and help out sometimes without ever being asked. I empower folks to make decisions and ensure my trust in them with clear expectation.
